Trichy government questions over need of more automatic traffic signals

1 Comment Sub Category:Uncategorized Posted On: Nov 17, 2011

The Trichy traffic police are in the process of installing more automatic signal points at places near Bharathiyaar Salai, Trichy Karur bypass and Ibrahim Park on the West Boulevard Road. The main agenda behind installing the automated traffic systems is the wriggled out traffic caused during the after school hours. According to city traffic police, the heavy traffic jams were universally addressed by all the mayoral candidates.

However, it is a shocking fact that the chief minister’s “mini-budget” did not even attempt to speak a word in concern with improving traffic conditions in Trichy. The top officials had never taken an initiative to improve the traffic conditions; instead they were more concentrated on allotting funds for improving city infrastructure. Moreover, the concerned authorities are now raising questions of should they spend on more automatic traffic signals, taking into considerations that there are already 10 such traffic signals installed in the city.
