Trichy residents protest against a service road
Residents in Trichy have been protesting against a service road for past six years.
The protest has again gained momentum after the officials inspected either side of the road for land acquisition.
The 14 km stretch between Thuvakudi to Old Palpannai on NH 67 will be developed into a service road and all the schools, colleges and worship places will evicted by 50 feet on both sides.
Due to this eviction, it gave rise to many groups like Federation for Affected Residents, Labourers and Traders Welfare Associations, etc to oppose the move.
The issue was born in 2006 and a group of residents from Ellaikudi village wanted this service road to get connected to their village.
