Twin Flyover to ease Traffic in Chennai
The traffic in Chennai city is said to be eased very soon. The commuters and the motorists crossing Anna Nagar in Chennai junction need not wait at prolonged signals. A twin flyover has already been planned to be coming into construction soon in Chennai with a budget paln of Rs117-crore project initiated by the state highways. Flyover will be about 590 metres long along with a carriage with a width of 7.5 metres.
World Bank is now keen on funding this flyover and the project work was started in May, 2011 and is now expected to be opening by year 2013. One of the flyover official reported saying that the traffic chaos has become common especially during peak hours in the morning and evenings. Nearly 20,000 commuters use the main city roads for more than two hours a day. About 19,000 square meters of land for this project has been granted from departments of the state government.
