Urban Land Act snatched flats from Mumbai builders!

No Comments Sub Category:Uncategorized Posted On: Jan 12, 2012

About 35 developers in Mumbai have been given notices to give away the flats which were kept for public housing.

The notices were given by the urban land ceiling (ULC) department to bring back 1,284 houses.

Under the Urban Land (Ceiling and Regulation) Act (Ulcra), the flats are to be used for general public but the builders have captured them illegally and had sold them at market rates.

Till date, over thirty notices have been sent since last June to these builders but they are not ready to part with their land stating that all the formalities under the Act has already been done several years ago.
