Chandigarh – The administration is currently in dilemma over the usage of 152 acre of land in Raipur Kalan which was kept for Industrial Area, Phase III.
UT administration has stopped keeping land for industrial area and planning  to work on their master plan to introduce flattened factories concept in that area.
According to recent survey by the Real Estate Office, 40% of the industrial plots are not used for setting up of industry,565 sites are used commercially while 150 plots are vacant.
On one hand UT has allowed to use industrial plot for setting up hotels and restaurants while on other hand it has proposed a plan to utilise the area to set phase III of the industrial area in Mauli Jagran.
Industrial zone comprises of Industrial Area, Phase-I & II , however Chandigarh Administration has decided to develop Industrial Area Phase -III on 152 acres of land in Mauli Jagran village. The reason behind this can be expansion of units or absence of space to set up an industry. In this concern the development and layout work is almost done.
According to the master plan committee, non labour intensive industries are not permitted in the new Industrial Area. Along with assuring greenery, site of two acres land is booked for electric grid substation to provide adequate provision of water supply, sewage system and electricity.
