Vacant areas in Hassan turns into dunping yards

No Comments Sub Category:Uncategorized Posted On: Jul 03, 2012

Wild plants and weeds growing on vacant sites in residential areas in Hassan is becoming an eyesore and helping breeding of mosquitoes and other insects and reptiles.

The vacant sites in these areas are becoming dumping places for garbage. Even though garbage bins overflow due to irregular clearance, these vacant sites outclass them for their vastness and permanent nature.

While the MCC garbage bins are cleared at least once in a week, the garbage on vacant sites only multiplies with time and thus, it is becoming a health hazard. Almost 80 per cent of parks in the city are used as dumping yards.

The problems prevail in even high-profile areas such as K R Puram and Vidyanagar, where the residents are supposed to be educated and civilised.

As the garbage bins are overflowing, the CMC has decided to place huge containers wherever waste collection is more.
