Of these, 5,165 houses have already been allotted to families from the economic weaker sections of the society.
The Vadodara Municipal Corporation will construct 4,096 more housing units for the urban poor under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JnNURM). The houses will come up in the Atladara area of the city at a cost of around Rs 114 crore. The civic body had sought 1.25 lakh square metres land from the government in the Atladara area of the city for making the housing scheme. This was allocated recently and the civic body had floated tenders to construct the housing scheme there.
