Water Bodies in Bangalore city draining off

No Comments Sub Category:Community,Green Living Posted On: Nov 04, 2011

Bangalore is known as a green city in India and this city is full of greens, beautiful lakes all over. Now the water bodies in Bangalore city has no more water in them, majority of the lakes have been filled with plaster of paris. The main reason behind this is that, the immersion of Ganesha idols during the time of Ganesh Chaturti. It was recorded that in the Ulsoor lake alone nearly 10,000 Durga idols and nearly 1 lakh and odd Ganesha idols were immersed. No wonder now that the lake is full of plaster of paris instead of green waters.

This has damaged the lives of flora and fauna surviving in these lakes. This cause is blam-able neither on the public or on the government authorities who gave permission for the public. Bharathinagar Residents’ Welfare Association protested for the cause and now that the greens are dying the residents are more concerned about their environment. The residents are eagerly looking forward for the government authority to initiate a serious step in concern with protecting the environment.
