Water-deficient state demands Awareness Campaign for Judicious use of Water

No Comments Sub Category:Awareness,Community Posted On: Nov 10, 2011

Rajasthan is a water-deficient state and it seriously demands an awareness campaign to educate residents especially in Jaipur city about the judicious use of water. Planning Commission advisor Ranjan Chatterjee reported saying that the general agenda of the residents is to utilize the water for present moment but they are not at all aware of the consequences of future needs. He also added on saying that, the lack of awareness in the residents has empowered them from staging a campaign.

Also campaigns are told to be staged to spread consciousness about the technology and also to educate the purpose of re-cycling water. However situations are entirely different at rural areas and re-cycle of water is to be done only in urban areas, later on fresh water can be supplied to both the area limits. In the overall availability of water, nearly 80 percent of fresh water is being used for plantation and irrigation purposes. The main problem is where residents in urban and rural areas lack consciousness about re-cycling waste water. However, this has become main reason for water shortage in several cities in India.
