Water on its way to Noida
Residents in Greater Noida can finally rest their water woes at peace. The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNID) have announced the Ganga water project is near completion. Officials have said that almost 70 percent of the project is done and the remaining work is just to construct underground reservoirs and laying pipelines for the distribution of water in the city. The authority is optimistic that the project will be functional by 2013.
The project will blend ground water with Ganga water and then it will be released to the pipelines for the use of the people, instead of the hard water that is provided at present. The construction of the project has cost a whopping Rs 320 crore. Also a Rs 130 crore water treatment plant is under-construction at Palla village in Greater Noida. GNID by this project will be able to generate 85 cusecs (204 MLD) of Ganga water to cater to the needs of residents in the city. The project will also be beneficial in the near future keeping in mind the projected population growth in the years to come.
