Waterlogging Woes still bothering Coimbatore low-lying areas

The heavy downpour has left its remarks at Coimbatore low-lying areas wherein the residents in some areas are still struggling with waterlogging woes. Coimbatore Corporation officials however came to the rescue of these residents and restored normalcy in few of low-lying areas. Nearly 140 people are being accommodated at the city corporation schools as the situations in few areas were out of control.

The heavy rainfall has created lot of chaos in the city ending up in Puliyakulam and LG Colony residents accommodating in temporary shelters. One of the senior corporation official reported saying that they have been taking possible measures to control the situations. Meanwhile the water level has been reducing slowly, only after the municipal workers paved way for the flow of stagnant water, officer added.

The municipal officials have asked couple of days times to clear all the water logged in the community. Also they have planned of constructing sewer pipelines on the edges of the roads to make way for the rain waters in future. The estimated cost for the construction work is under budget and will soon take floors. The problem would not have raised if the civic departments had constructed the same much before while the roads were constructed.
