Well prepared for monsoon – BBMP
As monsoon has started in Bengaluru, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) says that it is ready to meet any monsoon emergencies this year.
BBMP commissioner M K Shankarlinge Gowda said, storm water drain (SWD) system is efficient and is capable of carrying storm water even with a high intensity of rain.
Preventive measures are been taken to protect low-lying areas in the city and retaining walls have been built to prevent flooding.
Areas such as Nandini Layout, Bakshi Garden, Azadnagar in Chamarajpet, parts of Banashankari Ejipura, Mysore Road, parts of Hebbal and Koramangala are low-lying areas that face problems during every monsoon.
Four major drains, Koramangala, Challaghatta, Hebbal and Vrishabhavathi, have been de-silted by BBMP, the commissioner said.
