Western Railway and BMC put commuters in danger
Railway figures say on an average 3,000 people are killed every year crossing railway tracks in Mumbai. Western Railway’s Anmol Jeevan campaign, aimed at educating people about the dangers of crossing tracks and the need to use foot overbridges. But now, Western Railway (WR) and the BMC is putting to risk many lives at Andheri and Borivali railway stations by forcing commuters to cross the tracks.
Foot overbridges at Andheri and Borivali railway stations shut for repairs forcing people to cross tracks. At both places, the foot overbridge is shut for repairs and making a mockery of Western Railway’s Anmol Jeevan campaign. At Andheri, the facility is closed for public since the past 15 days, while the Borivali bridge is not in use since July 28.
WR officials alleged the civic body is yet to release payments for the Borivali bridge repairs, and the BMC is saying money to repair the Andheri bridge has been released, but WR is delaying the work. A BMC official said WR is trying to arm-twist the civic body. The BMC is saying money to repair the Andheri bridge has been released and there is no reason for WR to not begin repair work.

Its very sad to hear. Every one should use foot over bridges to cross the track. Railway officials should provide alternate thing which will not put people in danger while crossing the track. They couldn’t have forced people to cross railway tracks without using foot over bridges.
I would like to add on the negligence form the railway side further.
I had sent email to railway authorities for the siumilar problem in Vasai West.
AT present Railway had open up the ticketing counter but had not given the route to the platform.
A common sense, u can buy ticket to for going to Virar from the ticketing counter.
An then take a foot over bridge for getting it on platform one.
The other platform ie for 7 u can just walk on the railway track and reach the platform 7.
A person coming from churchgate and getting down at platform 1.
Has to take a foot over bridge to exit for the ST Bus depot.
Anyone can just go and watch thousand of passengers force to get down from platforma and cross the railway track.
Shops touching the platform is not jsut allowing people to get out or enter on platform 1.
