Western Railways nod to sewer pipelines in Mumbai
The Western Railways (WR) have finally agreed on the route of the pipelines which was proposed by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) in Mumbai. The proposed pipeline will carry the city’s waste water to the sea ,off the coast of Bandra. A civic official said sewer pipelines will run from Pali’s Shirley Rajan Road locality and under the railway colony onto Carter Road and then end at the sea.
The project was initially proposed by the BMC last year. However the WR officials had strongly rejected the plan as it involved laying of lines beneath Pali Hill Railway Colony. They said that the construction of the project for example the digging work and installation of lines would disrupt life of residents in the area for several months. They also raised fear that the digging activity might lead to cave-ins. Now after holding the project for long the WR has finally given its nod to the project.
