Within 3 years, Metro Rail is expected to become operational at Indore, Bhopal
According to recent news, the Metro Rail Project at Indore and Bhopal is being worked towards so that it can become operational within the next three years. Kailash Vijayvargiya, the minister for urban development and administration, has mentioned that feasibility reports of these two sites at Bhopal and Indore are now complete.
In order to understand the project in a better way, a team of departmental officials will be leaving for Germany soon. The minister of TOI has mentioned that three options are available at the moment: metro, light metro, mono rail. As assessment shall be made concerning which one can be considered worthy and suitable for Bhopal and Indore. The government will make its final decision after this. While the distance in Indore will be 32.16 kilometres, it will be 28.5 kilometres in Bhopal. The costs for both these projects are extremely expensive although Indore’s project is costlier than Bhopal’s.
Babulal Gaur, the minister of urban administration and development had also said that a memorandum of agreement has been signed by the state government with a joint venture firm which consists of a German Firm LRTC and Mumbai-based Rohit Associates Architects & Engineers Pvt Ltd . This was done a year ago to prepare a report which would contain all the details of the project.
