Ahmedabad Police sets drive for verification of domestic help
Ahmedabad- Satellite police have started a drive for door-to-door verification of domestic help registration.
Those who have not registered get booked under section 188 of Indian Penal Code for not adhering to the police commissioner’s notification.
On the first day of the drive, five people were served notice for hiring domestic help without police verification.
This drive was launched following two days after the murder of Madhu Agarwal at Dhananjay Bungalow in Anandnagar area on Monday since his maid was believed to be the culprit.
In an attempt to create awareness among people to have proper details of outsiders working in their houses, the Zone-1 Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Niraj Badgujar initiated the drive.
As a part of the drive, the Satellite police officials met the residents of Sumeru Bungalow on Ramdevnagar road. After counseling most of the residents agreed to go for verification of their domestic help.
They spoke many to domestic help and their employers during the awareness drive and convinced several bungalow owners to go through the process of verification. Few employers were booked for not adhering to the police commissioner’s notification about compulsory verification in order to give a strict message to others, said BN Chavda.
There are over 50 residential societies in Satellite area, employing more than 300 people for domestic chores. The police have planned to visit other societies and hold meetings in the coming days.
