Army criticised for abandoning land
New Delhi- A portion of land in the prime location of Mumbai was being usurped by a builder with the use of an irregular No Objection Certificate under the defence security. Apparently, the CAG has critisised the Army for this.
The local defense authorities were being targeted by the government stating that despite few fraudulent activities concerning the piece of land, it had still come to their notice. The land was not demarcated in the favour of the Central Ordnance Depot Mumbai from the state authorities. This stated that the land was usurped from the Army.
The land measuring 5,166 sq metre was used by a builder for residential purposes and is situated in Kandivali in Mumbai. Previously, the land was in possession of the Army since 1942. In 2007, the land was allotted to a private company which started the developmental work here and received an objection from the COD who drew sentries there.
