Comments(3) Sub Category:Awareness,Civic Issues,Community,Mumbai,Municipality Posted On: Jan 18, 2013

Illegal vendorsThe menace created by illegal hawkers can be dealt online now! The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is planning to open a website where one can track and complain about illegal hawkers very soon.

This setting up of website will be in the lines of pothole tracking system and will be created within a month.

After the set up, citizens can download the application on their Android mobiles from the civic body’s website. They can then upload pictures of illegal hawkers about whom they want to complain.

The software will be designed by the same agency, Probity Soft who designed the pothole tracking system.

The picture that gets uploaded will have the geo-positioning of the hawker which will be sent to the senior officials of the encroachment removal and maintenance department at the ward offices.

Once the complaint is sent, the concerned person can view the status of his complaint by keeping constant track.

This initiative has been taken after the civic body’s authorities thought of working on initiating time-bound action on every complaint.

Furthermore, once the issue is solved, the complainant will get a message on his number. Also, to prevent corruption, encroachment removal vans will be installed with sensors so that the vans’ locations can be checked.
