Construction of Bahadurgarh-Delhi metro to start soon
Bahadurgarh- Bahadurgarh, known as the “Gateway of Haryana,” is expected to develop as the fourth National Capital Region (NCR) town and third city of Haryana to be connected with Delhi through Metro rail.
Bahadurgarh is both a city and a municipal council located in Jhajjar, a district in the state of Haryana. Union urban development minister Kamal Nath and Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda have laid the foundation stone of Mundka (Delhi)-Bahadurgarh metro rail link at sector 9 in Bahadurgarh last week.
In this regard, an agreement was signed between Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA). On behalf of the two organizations, the Principal secretary of town and country planning Haryana SS Dhillon and Director (works) DMRC Jitender Tyagi have signed the agreement.
The route length of the project is 11.182 km and it is expected to be completed by March, 2016. The cost of the project is estimated to be Rs. 1991 crore. Haryana has planned to contribute Rs. 787.96 crore for the project.
Seven stations have been planned in the Mundka-Bahadurgarh stretch. The metro stations will be developed in Mundka industrial area, Ghewra, Tikri Kalan, Tikri border (all in Delhi), Modern industrial estate, bus stand and city park Bahadurgarh.
As per an official release, the estimated travel time from Bahadurgarh (city park) to Mundka would be 20 minutes while it would take 45 minutes up to Inderlok and about 50 minutes up to Kirti nagar in Delhi.
Experts say that metro link was essential in this part to connect Haryana on this side through metro and it is expected to influence the habits of the people. It would highly contribute to the development of the region. Currently, there is growth observed in three sides of Delhi- Faridabad, Gurgaon and Noida but this side of Bahadurgarh has been neglected. But if planned properly, this region would grow equal to Gurgaon in the next seven years in terms of development.
Earlier, Rohtak MP had said that it took three years to get the project through as Delhi government was not ready to construct metro in its territory after Mundka, saying that the population was less. He is also planning to get electric train approved between Bahadurgarh and Delhi during February.
