HC to hear PIL on Vadra’s land deal

No Comments Sub Category:Legal Posted On: Apr 29, 2014

The Delhi High Court will next week hear a PIL seeking a CBI probe into licences granted to several real estate developers in Haryana. The list of real estate developers include one allegedly associated with Congress chief Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law Robert Vadra. Chief Justice G. Rohini and Justice Pradeep Nandrajog will hear the PIL.

Advocate M.L. Sharma had filed the PIL alleging several licences were issued to developers and builders for turning 21,366 acres of agricultural land into colonies without complying with the statutory rules. He alleges that this caused Rs. 3.9 lakh crore loss to the exchequer. He further adds that the provisions of Haryana Development and Regulation of Urban Areas Act, 1975 were not complied when licences for developing colonies were allocated. Sharma claims that hundreds of licences for over 21,000 acres of land spread over Gurgaon and other parts of the state were issued by Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) in 2005-2012. The PIL is filed against Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), CAG, Skylight Hospitality, Robert Vadra, and DLF Universal Limited.

The PIL also seeks investigation in the deals entered into by Skylight Hospitality (Pvt,) Ltd, associated with Vadra, and its subsidiaries in Rajasthan.
