IGBC certifies Neotown as First Green Township in India

Bangalore- Patel Realty’s Neotown, a township project located in Electronic City Bangalore, is the first to be pre-certified by the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC).

The IGBC pre-certification is awarded for buildings and townships at the design stage to facilitate the adoption of sustainable green design practices in India.

The township developed by Patel Realty which is a subsidiary of the renowned Patel Engineering Group has got the prestigious IGBC Green Township Silver pre-certification credit for its mixed land use & integrated development.

The Council had laid down several norms which were fulfilled by Neotown. Some of the norms include innovation in design and technology, construction waste reduction, existing trees preservation, water bodies’ preservation and energy efficiency in infrastructural equipment.

Neotown showcases a balance between luxury and environment protection. The project is designed around environmentally-friendly principles. The features provided include sewage treatment plant, integrated rainwater harvesting (RWH) system, solid waste management, solar water heating, in-house nursery and long-term tree planning.

The land use system of the township has been designed like an employment hub for the city. The project has even generated employment for more than 100% of the working age population, for which it won innovation points.
