No upper time limit for minimum construction on plots: HUDA

HUDA plotsChandigarh: Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) has planned to stop giving upper time limit to allottees for completing minimum construction on residential and commercial plots.

Earlier, it was directed that the allottee has to complete the minimum construction within two years from the date of possession of the plots. A HUDA spokesperson said that now onwards there shall be no upper limit of the time within which the allottee is required to complete the minimum required construction.

After the expiry of 12th year, further extension in period of construction would be allowed, but only if an extension fee at double the rates of the previous year will be paid by the allottees, he added. However, this would not apply to plot sizes upto 100 square meters for which the rates would remain the same as in the 12th year unless and until increased by the authority.

In case of commercial plots, for building two or more floors the rates for extension fee would be two times or more times higher than the rates for residential plots respectively. The authority would allow a rebate of 50 percent in the extension fee in case of plots allotted to defence personnel including paramilitary forces, explained the HUDA official.

The rebate in extension fee to women and widows would continue to remain in force. These rates of extension fee would be applicable from the date of issue of this policy. The current allottees are required to pay the extension fee at revised rates for any extension to be sought after following the policy coming into force.

However, the official said that the allottees need not have to pay any differential amount for the extension fee already paid by them before the date of issue of this policy.
