Pune: PMC demolishes illegal structures

Illegal structurePune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has recently demolished 38 illegal structures standing tall in Shivajinagar, KasbaPeth, Wadgaonsheri, NIBM Road and Shivarkar Road.

These structures which were razed by the civic body include 38 tin shed structures and eight concrete houses located in the slums.

PMC has already started the demolition drive which has been one month now. It had started against the encroachments on 42 major roads and unauthorized constructions in the city limit.

The main motive of this drive is to reduce the traffic congestion in the city. So, it will be taken forward for many other wards in Pune city.

Many ward offices of the civic body had participated in the drive which include Ghole road, Vishrambaugwada, Sahakarnagar, Bhavani Peth, Aundh, Dhole Patil road and Warje.

Also, various illegal hawkers on these roads were evicted along with confiscating their handcarts. Furthermore, around 200 banners, hoardings and advertisement boards were pulled down from their stands which were confirmed illegal. Over 30 abandoned vehicles were also confiscated in this drive.

Earlier many illegal constructions in KarveNagar, Warje, Wanowrie and Kondhwa in Pune were demolished by PMC. These buildings were spread across 40,000 square feet.

The KarvenagarWarje ward office and the deputy commissioner office of Wanowrie and Kondhwa initiated the demolition drive.

An RCC construction of two storeys was demolished in Karve Nagar. The drive also includes demolition of other commercial buildings in the area. A total of 35 illegal buildings were razed by the municipal staff which were spread over 18,000 square feet. Also, an action was taken against 44 illegal properties in Kondhwa and Wanworie areas.
