The auditorium which will be rented out for a year to various corporates and organizations will have a tender process very soon. The building however has a historical significance with some of the most popular politicians. Considering its historical significance, the authorities have decided to rent it out for events without altering its originality.
However, the Delhi corporation has also decided to convert the town hall into a museum, a recreational centre and a tourist destination with a blend of the pre-Independence era. The work to give the building a heritage look has been already carried out and it will be internationally acclaimed for its originality and uniqueness.
Talking about its past, the town hall was built in 1857 to act as an office for the municipality, a literary society, chamber of commerce and a museum. It was a platform for interaction between Europeans and Indians.
