Water scarcity in Noida to be resolved with three new reservoirs
Noida- The increasing water woes in the city have made the Noida Authority to take a stringent action against it. The Authority is all set to introduce three new water reservoirs this year which will reduce the water woes significantly.
The reservoirs will be located in Sectors 116 and 117 and will be constructed with a total cost of Rs 174 crore and will have Ganga water stored in it. They have also said that the pipelines and the linking of these reservoirs along with the Pratap Vihar water treatment plant will be done in a month.
Very soon the residents will be supplied with additional Ganga water which will cut short the quality of the hardness of the already supplied water in the city.
As per the authority officials, the work on all the three reservoirs is already complete along with the pipelines being laid for the Ganga water from the treatment plant. The pipeline work will also be completed within a month followed by the authority starting the trail operations in May.
All the three reservoirs have capacities in the range of 44,000 to 55,000 kilo liters By 2015, the net water demand in the city as predicted by the Noida Authority is expected to reach by 215 million liters each day. Further, the commissioning of these three reservoirs with 240 MLD of Ganga water will be at the authority’s disposal.
The official further stated that they have plans of supplying the purified Ganga water alone to the residents rather than mixing it with the groundwater, which has also been practiced for years. The residents have been provided with potable water by mixing groundwater with the Ganga water to reduce the hardness of groundwater.
