DDA to act upon housing for poor
New Delhi - The city of Delhi will no longer witness a shortage of houses for the poor and the downtrodden as the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has decided to come up with about 14 lakh houses in five new zones which will be known as urban extensions.
The project will begin with a survey which will check the land for the low-income group (LIG) and the middle-income group (MIG) housing. This project by the DDA will help solve the shortage of houses in the city.
These projects will be taken up on all the available lands and will concentrate on LIG and MIG housing, as per the senior officials.
As per a DDA official, the land for the construction of LIG and MIG projects has already been identified. And these housing projects will be constructed on smaller plots which can accommodate about 500 to 700 flats.
Also, according to the DDA housing scheme, the buyers had to get the possession of the 16,000 flats by the end of the year 2011, but had not received yet as the land agency is still in the process of allotting the units.
As per Commonfloor’s point of view, these projects in Delhi can be set as an example for other states and thereby eradicate housing problems among poor people.
