GHMC to assess property tax by GIS survey
Hyderabad- As the revision of property tax is going all over the country, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is planning to assess property tax by using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) survey.
They are planning to implement GIS survey to capture every property electronically. In this regard, a detailed tender will be released to invite agencies. According to the GHMC commissioner, the selected agency will collect various taxes from a single building. Apart from property tax, the agency will also collect professional tax, advertisement tax and trade licence.
The government allowed to assess government properties in Hyderabad. The commissioner was also expecting the same from the government. Currently, the municipal corporations is busy with issuing provisional trade licences to all building establishments on the spot. Along with this, the civic body is giving a notice to submit all documents within a given period of time.
Issues related to cheque bounces are also into consideration. From past four years there were around 12,000 such cases identified. Around Rs 23 crore has been realized while some 2000 cases are still left. These pending cases will recover approximately Rs 7 crore.
GHMC commissoner also informed that the civic body is all set to protect 128 tanks under its limit. In this regard, a meeting was held between commissoner, collector and various GHMC revenue and irrigation officials to assess the progress of fixing Full Tank Level (FTL) of various tanks followed by their fencing and legal action. The chain link mesh proposals for 47 tanks has been sanctioned a sum of RS 18. 7 crore.
In order to make this task successful, coordination of concerned authorities like deputy commissioners and tahsildars is required for various works like demarcating boundaries and fixing pillars. Notices are also being issued to invaders of the full tank level. The temporary huts and sheds constructed within FTL will also be removed by Town Planning officials.
Matters related to acre rate for private land in FTL, shifting of bin, protection of burial grounds in GHMC limits, identification of open government land for construction of common walls etc were also discussed in the meeting.
